Permanent Resident Card Processing Times

Subject: Permanent Resident Card Processing Times
  Hi,

I have recently received my immigration visa to go to Canada and have to enter Canada before September to get my Permanent Resident status, card etc.

As i´m not exactly willing to leave everything directly behind in Europe, i was thinking of negotiating a couple of weeks´ holiday at work to go to Canada, get the Permanent Resident card and than come back here and figure out the rest. However I am not sure if this is a feasible plan, especially that as of today the processing times shown on CIC website are of 38 (business?) days to get the PR card...

Is it easy to get the PR card urgently while showing the return airline ticket or is it a big deal and not worth counting on? In what province/city is it better to start the application to get it through with the quickest? Is having an address the only requirement to get the PR card? If I understand correctly, as soon as I have this card i can leave Canada and can come back any time as long as i spend 2 out of 5 years there?

After research, I see some people leave Canada before getting their PR card, get it sent to a friend´s address in Canada and than have the friend send it to their address in a different country. Is this a legal practice? Does it work, or are there any complications to foresee? Is it still possible to be asked to come in person to get the card?

Any information on these questions would be very appreciated!
Thanks,
j.
