Your situation is not clear. Where are you now, in US?

There is nothing wrong in sending a passport to Canada.

But then if you are in US, I don´t understand how you will go to Canada without your passport, unless you have two passports ... or if your agency sends your passport back to US before you go then it is ok.

Sorry I am not sure if I answered correctly, you are not clear on your situation.

Why will you send your passports to Canada? You will fedex your passports directly to the center where your case is being worked upon. Do not send it to you agency.

And it is not illegal to send PP´s within the same country for stamping purposes, but it is illegal to send them to any other country.

Thanks

Thanks

Ok , here is my situation, My immigration lawyer/agency in based is toronto & they receive all mails on my behalf, My case is in process at detroit office, I live in USA.

Now when my lawyer gets Passport request letter, I have to send him my passport (to toronto) , he in turn will send it to Detroit office, after stamping detroit will again send it to Toronto (my lawyer) & he will send it to me in USA,

So i want to know if i can courier my passport to my lawyer in Toronto when gets letter for passport request. is this legal

I know did mistake in hiring these guys but i am in final stage now & don´t want to change mailing address and stuff.

I would say, if you realize your mistake in hiring these guys, then this realization must be based upon your experience. Then why do you want to committ another mistake. You will be a pray in their hands, lose your night´s sleep.

If your lawyer receives the letter, tell him to send it to you. At least you can send your passports yourself. For receiving I think changing your address is the best option. It does not take much time, just email them and fax them and sleep peacefully.

That´s my opinion.

Thanks

Agreed with Saikripa.

You live in USA and your process is at Detroit office, technically there is no reason to send your passport to Canada.

By the way your lawyer in Toronto should know what is LEGAL or not, he is a LAWYER after all!

In the letter received by your immigration lawyer/agency of toronto,be confirm that the Canadian high commission has clearly written your passport canot be mailed other country as you are saying (Ask the copy and see). So you must send it directly to Detroit office. Your agent even your behalf cannot send your passport to detroit office.

As you are in USA, if you did mistake and your agent send your passport on your behalf it is illegal. If by mistake, if consulate accept your case, after stamping detroit the consulor will send it to you directly as they will not follow illegal route that you are thinking to follow. It is strict and the real things.

You can ask consulate directly to send the second copy of your letter to you again, if your agent making misbehave it or can write your case number and forward your passport to them as that letter is not required for the stamping.
