Subject: Change in family status and possible delay
  Hi,
I have applied for canadian immigration from here in US and waiting for the interview date which is so far not announced at least till march 1st, 2005. I am in US and an indian by citizenship. My interview will be scheduled at detroit, MI office. At this point I am expecting a baby by feb 25, 2005. As my interview will definitely be after the birth of baby, in this scenario I have following questions,
1. When should I inform the canadian consulate office at detroit about the change in family status?
2. When should I schedule my medical exam?
---Should I schedule it before the delivery?
---Should I schedule it after the birth of baby and before the interview?
---Should I schedule it after the interview?
3. What are the chances of my interview of getting delayed if I inform the consulate about change in family status?
4. How should I inform the change in status? what documents are needed to send them or fee etc.? Any website link?
5. The baby will be US citizen. Can me my husband and our baby enter Canada without having our baby as immigrant? I mean are there any other rules for US citizens to enter canada?
I would greatly appreciate for your help.
Thankyou
Aradhna

As soon as your baby is born.

You can not get X ray done when you are pregnant so you will have to wait till your baby is born. When you inform Detroit that you have a baby they will send you medical forms for the baby. I suggest that you, your husband and your baby get the medical done after you get the interview date from Detroit.

---Should I schedule it after the interview?
NO

3. What are the chances of my interview of getting delayed if I inform the consulate about change in family status?
Change in family status does not effect your case.

4. How should I inform the change in status? what documents are needed to send them or fee etc.? Any website link?
When baby is born write a letter to Detroit informing them of the change of family status and that you want to add your baby to your application of PR. Send the following documents:

1) Certified copy of baby´s Birth Certificate;
2) Copy of Passport;
3) the second page of IMM0008;
4) 110 USD application fee;
5) 4 photos;
6) cover letter to inform CIC the birth of child.
7) Additional Family information (IMM 5406) form

5. The baby will be US citizen. Can me my husband and our baby enter Canada without having our baby as immigrant? I mean are there any other rules for US citizens to enter canada?

Canada and USA are two different countries. US citizens although do not require visa to visit Canada for a short duration but they can not stay in Canada indefinately. So if you want to settle down in Canada you have to apply for your babys immigration.

NOTE Canadian PR will NOT have any effect on the US citizenship of your baby and husband.
