| Subject: 2 wifes -need advise |

Hi all,
My friend is a Palestinian Moslem and he is married
with 2 wives and has 6 children from the oldest and 2
from the 2nd one.
He is a 36 yrs old civil engineer owning and running
his own contracting company with 11 years of
experience.
His first wife finished secondary school while the
second is an architect eng. with 8 yrs of experience.
His English is moderate and the French is half
moderate half basic.
He wants to immigrate to Canada (skilled worker
permanent residence application) .
He needs yr advice how the best way to apply? Can he?
How the Canadian laws deal with such a case? Should he
choose one of them?
Please help.

i am an arab muslim, with palestinian roots too, and u wonder why arab muslims are
hated in this world?
because they choose to follow their religion, or follow
"parts" of their religion, by marrying 2 women..we all know
WHY they do that..at the time of the quran they did that to
take pity on widows, now there is no more reason for that
yet they still marry 2 or 3 or 4 wives.
ur so called "muslim" friend is one fine example
in canada, and rightly so, its illegal to have more than 1 wife,
tell ur friend( or urself, im assuming u r the one with 2 wives) to stay where he is, canada has no place for people like him. choose one of them? doesnt the quran say to treat ur wives equally? choosing one wont work.
if the canadian government finds out he has more than 1 he will be deported or put on trial, nothingless that he deserves.

Anonymous I think you have gone crazy! In the west many people( although not all) have 10 girlfriends for sex and just sex and most men dont even take care of the children born to thier sexual partners...
Islam gives women dignity and respect. The woman will be called a "wife" of a man and not a whore.
Now, you seem to be very ignorant and very arrogant in assuming that this guy has taken a second wife for sex. I cant believe you have roots in Palestine! Dont you know how many men get killed daily! How do you know that this man married for sex? Did he tell you? Did you ask? May be she was indeed a widow! If you cant answer his quiery, dont. But dont accuse him for following whatever he believes without knowing the reason.
Canada is an independent, soverign country with rules and regulations it believes are right. If Canada doesn´t allow more than one wife; it is because it believes it to be right. No blame on it!
But look at the disease pattern...How many muslims die/ carry AIDS virus. And mostly AIDS is caused due to having multiple sex partners...you know that.
That means even if some muslims have more than one wife, they know to keep themselves clean; which is most important thing to do as a human.
Now if you think muslims are hated because they marry more than one woman, you are ignorant again. You must do a lot of reading before you come here.
If you are in Canada, you must learn a lesson - Dont stereotype. Canada welcomes every kind of people except criminals and having more than one wife is not crime in all countries...where as having many sexual partners is; which unfortunately is not the case in many western countries!!

we live in the 21st century.
i never said multiple gfs are good,
multiple gfs and multiple wives are worse that each other.
canada accepts every1, but there are limits and extremes,
and u r one of them. if u need more than 1 wife, u r a sick

Anonymous is trying to HELP you, there is no need of being upset with him.
In Canada it is illegal to have 2 wives, that is it, whether or not you are a Muslim. It is just the law.
Therefore it is not so advisable for you to apply for PR since you won´t be able to fill the forms without lying and you should not lie to Immigration Authorities.

I am also from that area of the world.
First of all I hope the original post is genuine. I hope it was not made to attract heated discussion, specially with the unfiar and increased anti-muslim sentiment in the North American and rest of the world.
I am not here to defend this or that. This matter is too complex to discuss in an immigration space, like our forum. But we all have to respect others believes and traditions whether we agree or disgaree. That does not mean Canada has to open doors widely to every comer.
Anonymous 150.123 is absolutely wrong. He is not trying to help but to seek provocation and more.
I have read your response carefully. While I do feel your good heart and intention in your reply, I also say you are wrong. There is no need to accuse the man in advance of misrepresentation or misleading Canada (assuming he is genuine in his post, as I can not exclude the false pretence from those who hold anti-muslim feellings).
The Canadian law does not allow more than one wife, which is fair enough. Everyone who chose to live in Canada has to abide and respect the Canada law. There is no point to go into useless discussion by saying one extra-wife is much better than 10 girlfriends also. This is how it is in the land you chose to immigtarte to, or you are already in.
However, and for God sake, the man is not in Canada yet. he is in his home land. he is not breaking the law there. How do we know his personal circumstances that led him to have 2nd wife?. Do we know if his first wife is ill? how many Palestinean women are left with no men around while the Israeli prisons are filled with hundreds of thousands of palestinean men? What did this Anonym 150.123 do to free those prisoners? The women there are not allowed to have sexual relationships outside marriage...what is wrong in that chastity issue? So which is honorable for a woman in this situation? to stay alone all her life or to marry and get her own kids? How many single mums who are suffering in Canada and else where? or may be the woman should have to wait indefinite for the Israelis to free one man or the other? Again we do not need the headache of politics here.
Again and back to our main subject, the man can be a genuine immigrant. He found himself in his current situation, with kids from 2 wives. Why would this stop him having the freedom to immigrate? then it is up to the recepient country to accept or reject? Canada is aware of the different culture issue, different religion issue, and above all the agony and disaster of the Palestineans who have lost their land by Balfour declaration, whose home land was taken by force while the whole world including Canada are in a conspiracy of silence. For your information, there has been unspoken law in Canada, that is to resettle the Palestinean immigrants into Canada in order to get rid of them and leave their land to the Israeli settlers who come from everywhere in the world.
Why are we tolerant when the President of the World Bank, Paul Wolfowitz is having an extra marital sexual relationship and not only that but also using his power to increase the salary of his lover in an amount that can feed thousands of dying children in Africa? why are we not tolerant and jumping to accuse this Palestinean of misleading Canada even before he could fill some immigration forms?
Do we need to re-think again?

As you said this matter is too complex to discuss in this forum.
What I meant by my response is that we should keep our "personal feelings and opinions" away while giving answers or trying to help others.
I think it is not needed to criticize or approve the fact that he has 2 wives. He was asking about PR immigration so he should be aware that it is illegal in Canada to have 2 wives. Full stop.
We should not comment on anyone´s belief and/or religion or personal issues. We should help regarding immigrations laws.
My guess is that there must be other forums for those type of issues.

religion, right, wrong, sex, girlfriend whatever aside
polgyamy is illegal in Canada. Our friend would need to declare both wives and all his children on his application. If he does not, he misleads the Canadian government and will lose his PR. If he tells the truth, Canada will either flat out reject his application or tell him to divorce one and never be able to sponsor them at a later date.
Canada is not an option for him.

any way i think "CBV333" gave me the answer i need by saying (I think it is not needed to criticize or approve the fact that he has 2 wives. He was asking about PR immigration so he should be aware that it is illegal in Canada to have 2 wives. Full stop.)
