my neighbor,(esel) is a srilankan, on a visitors visa; the visa was issued by the immigration officer who needs a caregiver...Esel was forced to work without working permit...now that her visa will expire on May 11th, her employer (the Imm officer´s friend), is hiding her passport and her return ticket. she is not allowed to use the phone, and her salary is only 500 a month, that she receives every 3 months,and wired directly to her sri lanka account...
in behalf of other friends, what do u think is the best advice we could give her? inform a police or call the immigration where the officer whos behind all this is working there too???
we are just concerned about her...as we dont want that to happen to us too...

I would go to the police right away. Also inform the immigration office where this idiot is working. He is not only violating human rights but also creating a security breach to Canada by not following the protocol to issue visas.

i forgot; the family Esel (not real name) is working with is a sri langkan too...and they had 3 caregivers before, but all those caregiver couldnt stand obviously the scope their giving the caregivers...thats why they asked their friend, an immigration officer to get them somebody from sri lanka, on a visitors visa....and Esel doesnt have any days off too...
we as friends dont want to get involve with this, but we are willing to help...

Xcess, as friends you need to get involved "fully". There may be some risks... but what are friends for?! Without any risks, anyone will help friend or no friend!!

Hi
I think you can get the help without getting involved also. The main thing is that she needs help and she is in no position to help herself. Inform the police from a pay phone or something, but help her so that when ever you meet GOD you can look HIM in HIS eyes. I know it´s hard, but think of something to get her out of there. You never know what other atrocities they might be causing her.
