Subject: 1 Year Course (Community College) |
Hi. While in Canada visiting you come across a 1 year course in a Community College. Is it possible to request an extension of your stay or should a Student Visa be required?
Many thanks

(in reply to: 1 Year Course (Community College)) Hey,
You need a study permit for any course longer than 6 months.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/permit-who.html:
You do not need a Study Permit if you are planning to take a course or program in Canada with a duration of six months or less. You must complete the course or program within the period authorized for your stay in Canada.
If you are a visitor you have to apply for study permit out of Canada.
If you do not have a valid Study Permit and wish to continue your studies, you will have to leave Canada in order to apply for one!
Cheers
