Subject: I had a DWI
My application was refused due to my DWI in the US ( which happened 6 years ago.)
I understand I can file for an Application for Rehabilitation which takes about 1 year to process. Can I just appeal the decision or do I have to start over my entire immigration file after obtaining the Application for Rehabilitation? Help grealtly needed, thanks in advance for any input.

Wish I could help...Ive been searching also about rehabilitation... if I find anything to help you I will be sure to post it.
In our case my partner.. whom Im sponsoring.. has 2 driving convictions over 13 years ago...one for driving without insurance and one for driving while suspended for the first conviction 6 months later...no jail time just fines and suspension of license for a year...We are trying to decide if we should do the rehabilitation now, while we are waiting for the visa..as it takes a 12 to 18 months... so atleast its started incase they ask us for it also in 6 months.
Good Luck with yours, I hope it works out...Anne

If 10 years have passed since the end of the sentence imposed then you can be considered deemed to be rehabilitated. Check this out.

Im not sure if hes deemed rehabiltated in my case because 10 yrs must have passed and it must only be one conviction...in his case its 13 yrs and its 2 convictions....so its a bit of a grey area...some people tell me he is already and others are telling me start the rehabilitation form...
