Subject: Interview after medicals
  Hello Everybody!
I submitted my skilled worker application at the beginning of 2001 and got my interview waiver letter and medical forms in April 2004. Medical exam passed in April. Waiting for Promise Of Visa Letter, but in December, couple days ago, received letter:

?you will be required to appear for an interview at the Canadian Consulate General, Detroit. Your application has been placed in the interview queue and you will be contacted once an interview has been scheduled for you.?

My medical exam results valid till April and according Detroit consulate web site all the time slots till March 2005 are booked and moreover they have a waiting list.
Can anybody comment on this situation? Do the Consulate has priority processing in such cases as mine? What will happen if my medical expired?

Best regards and thanks in advance,
Vladlen

Gee man!

you scared me out since I recently got the waiver!
this is probably a qualty interview or something like that...really nothing to be worried about but still a pain in the neck because it increases your waiting time!

wish you all the luck and let us know!

No this is not one of the interviews to check the quality of the process. Most probaby the immigration official has not been able to verify something you stated in your application e.g. work experience, education qualification. So you have been called to verify that.

I strongly recommend that you get CAIPS notes at this time (visit www.caipsnotes.com). You will come to know the doubts of the immigration official from the notes.

I am not sure if they will give you any priority for the interview.

Hi VC,

To get interview after the selection decision is very rare. This ususally happens when background check has some problem.

Try to get CAIPS as Anonymous suggested.

The problem with interview waivers is that CIC puts in their letter that they "may or may not" call the applicant for an interview. From this clause it is understood that CIC still set their options open whether to conduct an interview or not. But in most cases they no longer require an applicant to be interviewed. And so it is just so unfortunate that you fall into the other way around.

Yeah, I agree with rest that you get your CAIPS asap to know the real problem. Just hang in there.

Usually medical exams done by consulate request and valid for one year. In your case medical expires and you have make it on more time, but in any case wait for request from consulate.
