Hi
I had a question regarding my medicals... I am applying for canadian immigration, and I wanted to get your opinions about my health situation.
I suffered from depression 4 years ago, and was prescribed medication. I am still on medication, at a much lower dose nevertheless (my choice really), just as a preventive measure. Do you think this might affect my chances of passing the medical exam, and getting perm. residence?
I am surprised that such as enquiry has never popped up in any immigration board....
Any advice/ opinion would be appreciated....

Nobody can give you a definite answer for medical conditions unless you mention extreme cases such as common cold, dialysis , etc. The reason being that each medical condition requires evaluation by medical officer with the CIC and only he/she can provide you with an answer.
As for your case, suffering from depression should not cause much trouble in the immigration process if it was easily managed in the past and in future is not going to cause excessive demand on the healthcare system.
I am no doctor but as long as you are not a danger to the society or the reasons mentioned above apply to you, you should be fine.

I guess I am looking as well for personal experiences of people who might have suffered from depression, and gone through the medical and immigration process... Did that prevent you from getting PR? Were you required to do any additional tests?

Medical test include blood, urine & chest x-ray only
mental health is normally not a issue, people applying from poor countries are normally frustrated & depressed, so they want to move to canada
Yes, u should not have any criminal records to prove that u are depressed
