Subject: Is it better to marry in the UK?
My fiance is a Canadian citizen, I am a British Citizen. She is currently in the UK on an up to two year working holidaymaker visa. We want to get married, and I would like to immigrate to Canada.

My questions are: Would it be easier to marry in the UK or in Canada, and if so when after the marriage would it be best to start immigration procedures and how; would she have to return to Canada and sponsor me as a spouse or could we get things underway while she is still in the UK?

As a Canadian citizen your fiance can sponsor you (when you get married) from UK.

I suggest you visit the website www.cic.gc.ca and study the guides available for sponsorship of family member. Start preparing the documents and apply as soon as you get married.

If you have been living together for more than a year she can sponsor you as commom-law partner. But I suggest that you get married and then apply - its just easier.

not while you are on welfare- who is going to support her? You also either need to be married or living common law for 1 year.
