Subject: Still waiting...
  Hello all!
Here is my timeline:
Applied through Baffalo: Sep.2003
AOR: Oct.2003
IA: May 2004 , interview waived.
Medical sent: June 2004
FBI and other requested documents sent: Aug.2004
e-Client changed to "Medical Received": Aug.2004
"Background information latter" stating that there were incomplete information on my application, received on Nov.2. I was asked to report "personal history" and "addresses" since the date of the application. I completed this letter and sent it back via overnight mail.
This was received by CIC next day (nov.3).

Here are my questions:
1)-When CIC is asking for the personal information and
addresses since the date of the applicaiton to present,
means that CIC is starting the process of any kind of
background check (other than FBI/Police)? Or this
happens anytime they are asking for additional
information.
2)-It has been five week since they received the letter
back. I have not received PR request. Is this normal?
3)-I am thinking about ordering CAIPS through
www.caipsnotes.com. I have no idea who owns and runs
this site. Is this site reliable and confidential?

Any inputs to these questions would be appreciated.

Warm regards.

1. The information you have mentioned are more likely to be requested for background/security check. Some people receive the letter together with their medical forms. But I have seen people who got it 2-3 months after receiving the medical examination request. My personal opinion is that this totally depends on the officer who is processing your application.

2. The passport is requested after security check. Dpending on the countries you have been living in, it may take a couple of months or a couple of years! So be patient and just cross your fingers.

3. Ordering CAIPS notes is a good idea to see what document is missing. If you can not trust that website, there are so many other ways to order CAIPS.

Thank you for your input.
You said there would be many other ways to order CAIPS.
What other ways?
I also would like to know if CAIPS will show if Background/Security check has been started?

Thanks

If you are living in Canada, I think, you can obtain it by yourself. If not, you mat authorize someone who is living in Canada to obtain them on your behalf. Then, your friend can request the CAIPS notes. You may find a how to on this by googling CAIPS or search immigration forums.
I do believe that CAIPS notes would contain information regarding your background check.
