Subject: Spouse application while both live outside Canada |

I´m a Canadian citizen living in the UK. We did all the proper things to allow us to marry and I´m now a resident. We thought we would live here for at least 2 years because my husband has family here but the lifestyle here (constant fighting at pubs and streets, small living spaces, high prices, etc.) is really getting us both down. I still own my house back in Canada and we are considering moving back sooner rather than later.
How can I apply for my husband to come live in Canada with me? I gave up my job in Canada obviously to move here (UK) and I´m just doing a job search here so I´m unemployed at the moment but own my house in Canada and have bank accounts there too. My husband has a very good job and did work in Canada before through a previous company he worked for but that visa has expired.
Any help would be appreciated as I only see how to sponsor (I´m currently a houseswife) your spouse and that is from within Canada (living in and resident of UK).

(in reply to: Spouse application while both live outside Canada) I´m not sure if there is a way to do it from outside of Canada. Usually you´d have to be settled in Canada to sponsor your Husband for PR status. You could wait until your 2 year period is up and then move back to Canada, sponsoring him.
If you give me your e-mail address I´ll look into it for you properly and get back to you ASAP.

Spouse application while both live outside Canada posting (in reply to: Spouse application while both live outside Canada) Thanks for responding.
I don´t know how to send you my email other than to post it so this is an account that is only set-up for this forum (not primary account). I´d appreciate people reading this not to send to this address unless it is to do with this forum.

How to sponsor while living abroad (in reply to: Spouse application while both live outside Canada) Hi!
My husband and I are doing the exact same thing right now that you are planning to do. I am a canadian and he is british and we are living in britain and applying to go back to canada. You need to apply to immigration canada with the form called: Sponsorship of a spouse/commonlaw/conjical partner living outside canada. It doesn´t matter whether you are in canada or not, infact they prefer you to be with your partner while applying and then move together back to canada. It doesn´t matter if you don´t have a job or any savings what matters is that you have a marriage certificate and can show that you plan to move back. It is an intensive application process: your husband will need to get an expensive medical test done and have a criminal record check from every city he lived in here and abroad for more than 6 months. The website directly to the forms and info you need: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/fc.html
I hope this helps!
