hi,
i am currently in canada. i have applied for my wife´s permanent residency in the family class.
after how many days of submitting the application should i expect the immigration authorities to give me the file number.
it has been 25 days since submission. I am still awaiting the file number.

Unfortunately you will have to wait much longer than 25 days...The waiting time to get a first stage approval for PR is about 7-8 months:

It depends where u applied from.
If you applied from within Canada then it would take up to 7-8 months to get the file number.
If you applied from abroad you will receive ur file number within 30 days.
My wife is sponsoring me from India.. we submitted our application to CPC-M and got our file number within 30 days.

I apply for my husband who is in india and we got the initial approval after 19 days, the letter arrived with a month
