Subject: Proof of funds
I am planning to land by driving from Buffalo in a rental car. I have the following question:

For the proof of funds,is the latest bank statement enough? Or is it required to actually carry funds in the form of cashier´s check, etc.

Thanks,
SS

In the immigration office we were just asked how much cash we are bringing inside Canada and that´s all, they don´t even look at the bank draft or bank statement. That time i´m having Cad$13,500 cash and we have not encountered any problems.

It depends on the immigration officer. If you want to be safe than sorry, then you must actually carry your money (cash, check, MO, etc.). However, if you have access to your bank account in the US from Canada, I dont think there is a problem...

If you look like you are coming well prepared for settlement, then there is less interest on the part of CIC to insure you have the resources to support yourself once landed.

If you are arriving with a suitcase, by yourself... they are more inclined to want assurances that you have what you need to established your home and support yourself until you find employment.

does that make sense?
