Subject: moving away from common law
I came over here on a common law work visa with my girlfriend a year ago and i now have a good job and pay taxes and am from the UK etc..my girlfriend is worried that if she looses her job then i will be screwed too as my work permit is linked to hers and my new company won´t sponsor my work permit. Is there any way i can apply for a seperate work permit without risking my job and so that if she lost her job and had to return to the UK I could stay in Canada until she sorted it all out?

Common law work permit (in reply to: moving away from common law)
You need to speak, in person , to a Immigration Canada information officer, at the CIC office closest to where you are living, to get accurate and complete information that is specific to your situation.

Do not wait, go and find out the facts, now.
