Hiya,
A question to people who have immigrated or know people who have immigrated to Canada:
Are you happy with your decision to immigrate to Canada? How is your exxperience of Canada as a whole?
I am considering either Canada or Australia and have been getting many mixed signals about both countries. Apparently the social structure in Canada is no good (ie drugs and stuff is rife), the economy is sluggish, house prices are high (for the quality) and taxes are very high. Would anyone please comment.

You have already made up your mind incorrectly so enjoy OZ. Take a swim with the Sharks and enjoy a far more racist country then Canada.
Check out mls.ca in non-major population centres and you will see housing prices are not high. I could go on for ever but all you want to do is confirm your own inconceived interpretations.

I´m going to assume that you are from the UK?
I´ve helped dozens of people come to Canada, from the UK and I can say that most of them are very happy here in Canada. The majority of them are skilled trades persons like plumbers, electricians and carpenters, who had years of experience.
Some are living in big cities, others in smaller towns in Canada, and they report that the crime rates are lower, and there are no CHAVS here in Canada, and the cost of houses are much lower than in the UK. In one man´s words, "you get twice the house, for half the UK price ".
People in Australia are NOT friendly to the British imigrants, and many people leave in a few months, due to the poor reception that they get in OZ. Canada has been a immigration destination for 300 years, so we don´t think much about newcomers, as they are a "constant thing here ".
Canadians are friendly, polite and genuinely interested in your becoming a part of our country, as a immigrant to Canada.
Have you done ANY research about life in Canada ? Not the immigration process, but how we live here? Try looking around the net, for information about the social/work life in my country. You need to become better informed.

Hi Brent, Go to Australia a good country . Comfortable climate and excellent affordable living conditions. Why you waste life, living in -70 snow?

I lived in Canada for 3 years, just became resident. I can walk in every city for at any time of the night without being afraid, rent is low, social services - available to EVERYONE, people are friendly to newcomers.
You´ve already gotten amazingly wrong info about the country, so just go to Australia.

Nice view of Canada you have - why not stay where you are? UK is such a safe cheap place to live with social services at premium high...

Anonymous, what kind of temperature scale are you using? And are you talking about northern part of Nnnavut or Northwestern Territories where very few people live?
Or are you among the same people who also believe that bears walk down the streets in Russia and when you come there in July you they catch you and force you to drink a bottle of vodka in -100 C frost?

I think Canada is the perfect choice at all; there is only one disappointing point,
You can?t work wherever you want and you are allowed only to work in the place you indicated in your application.

Linda, that is true of a work permit but not of a skilled worker application. You can land where you like and work where you like. A PR card is full Canadian liberation.
