  My Morning Rant

I spend so much money on genuine advertisements, office space, staff salaries and mostly membership in my regulatory society just to see the following article. http://www.thestar.com/News/article/226065

It does not bother me that I must maintain a better then average office, quality staff, countless hours trying to solve peoples problems. I really like what I do and the hugs when I win a difficult case.

What gets me is the clients who pay for such illogical advice such as making a refugee claim from an EU country because there is no work in that one country. That certain CSIC members can advertise their company as "________ ______ IMMIGRATION LAW PRACTICE" and the complaints are never dealt with.

That CSIC after the self regulation date holds an annual general meeting on the internet (only) and they don´t even get a quorum! That I have to pay and pay my society just for a piece of paper that allows me to go to hearings. That anyone else can do the same business as long as they are paid upfront. IP9 section 2 last paraggraph http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip09e.pdf

NO ONE CAN STOP THE GUY ACROSS THE STREET FROM REPAIRING YOUR USED CAR BECAUSE HE DOES NOT HAVE A MECHANIC LICENSE.

I WISH CSIC WOULD STOP FILING COMPLAINTS AGAINST MEMBERS WHO STATE THE OBVIOUS.
I WISH CLIENTS WOULD RESEARCH REPRESENTATIVES QUALIFICATIONS AND WHETHER OR NOT THEY SPECIALIZE IN THEIR PARTICULAR AREA BEFORE PAYING ANYONE.

LAWYERS ARE NO BETTER AND THIS FORUM ATTESTS TO THAT!
I WORK HARD FOR MY REPUTATION BUT NONE OF MY CLIENTS HAVE DEEP POCKETS LIKE SOME THAT HAVE BEEN MENTIONED IN THE TORONTO STAR ARTICLE THIS WEEK.

I have posted about advertisements even showing up on this forum. I do not advertise at the top of these pages. I believe I am a quality representative yet I struggle every month just to pay the rent. I am so glad I can not lie to clients. When the rent is due or at any other time. BELIEVE IN COMMON SENSE!

Roy, There are always folks who will be fooled into such payments. The greed for a better living just is too much for some and thus is exploited. I would advise that only time will weed out the cheats. For the rest, just hang on to your job and be honest in life.

CIC needs to step in and set a list. (in reply to: Immigration Business)
Seeing as CIC is the group that makes decisions about applications, why don´t they publish a list of "Approved Lawyers and Consultants " and advertise that ONLY these persons should be used, no others.

Surely the Government of Canada can afford to advertise this list in foreign newspapers, to prevent fraud. This kind of stuff is creating a bad smell overseas, about Canada.

yup, the good guys need to get together a publish a list of approved consultants. in the end people think Canada is responsible for selling them something that does not exist. In truth it is likely a greedy immigration consultant and some naive friends.

The problem is the weak legislation and the professions regulators.

The Law Society of Upper Canada does not dsicipline for Professional Negligence! That is a mistake and a matter for the courts to determine according to them. So if the Immigration and Refugee Board member failed to allow certain evidence into your hearing that you believe severly affected your negative decision Legal Counsel must appeal within a certain amount of time. If the Lawyer submits too late "WHOOPS SORRY" go to the courts and sue because he/she was tardy. Yeah Right!

Anyone can submit an application for a fee as long as they intend to use e-cas to check the status of the file and not communicate directly with CIC. No Consultant needs to belong to CSIC unless they are doing Hearings, Appeals, Detention Reviews, Refugee Claims or wish to discuss a clients case with a CBSA or a CIC officer.

TOO MANY CONSULTANTS AND LAWYERS ARE FURIOUS I ANSWER QUESTIONS HERE---TO THEM---STOP EMBARRASSING ME FOR BEING IN THIS BUSINESS.
