Subject: Application on compassionate grounds
A Canadian citizen,I have applied to sponsor 83 year old mother into Canada who is trapped in Zimbabwe on her own with nobody to care for her. Submitted letter with application explaining dire circumstance she is in and requesting she be given consideration on compassionate grounds (to accelerate waiting period, or allow her to apply from within Canada), however have received only a letter from Immigration Canada stating our application has been received and will take at least 3 yrs before it can be processed! No ref. number we can use to track her progress and no mention of receipt of funds submitted with application!
Is there a contact number or someone in Immigration Canada I can SPEAK to personally who could help me? Would sincerely appreciate any help!

Talk to Roy, he knows about H&C cases.

He doesn´t work for immigration but he is a private consultant.

Try for a vistor's Visa, and call your MP (in reply to: Application on compassionate grounds)
Bill:

Look into a visitor´s visa for her and contact your FEDERAL Member of Parliament for help with this situation.

Be prepared to provide full details to the MP´s office staff, to help them build a case for him/her to present to the Minister of Immigration or his aides in Ottawa, on your behalf.

Thanks for input (in reply to: Application on compassionate grounds)
Have avoided consultants because with all my other expenses related to this issue I can´t afford them. I have tried the office of my Federal MP and was advised "my mother should get in line" by the female staff member there. I agree this is probably the best solution so I guess I need to bye-pass her somehow and speak to the man himself.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!

You have given no special personal reason why anyone should show compassion to your mother in your posting. So she is 83 where are your siblings? Her brother and sisters, extended family etc. Why is she trapped (your word) in Zimbabwe?

The onus is on the applicant to show that their PERSONAL circumstances are unusual or undeserved. IP5 section 5.26

How many other Canadians have a 83 year old mother who would probably never pass a medical that are back in the home country. Your a citizen and only now your trying to do something about bringing a parent here.

How long have you been in Canada?

Your stating that you can´t afford a consultant! What about the time you waisted talking to your MP. Have you even read the manuals?

If you really cared about your Mother you would find the funds to get quality representation.

R U Angry yet?

H&C is all about compassion and it has to be common sense to the majority of Canadian´s and you have not shown that yet.

Two identical 21 year old female twins, one sent to a special spa for a complete makeover, hair, makeup, facial, pedicure, manicure, perm then taken to a fancy clothing store to be given the best designer outfit available. The other identical twin goes to Walmart for her outfit and does her own hair and make up.

Which one do you think all of the young men will find the most attractive?

Immigration officers do not have to seek out H&C factors that are not well addressed. It is your and yours Mother responsibility. Why should your mother be shown compassion over any other 83 year old mother from Zimbabwe or anywhere else?

You have to give them plenty of reasons to care.

Yes Roy, you are right - what you say is obvious! However, what you are unaware of is the detailed letter to Emigration Canada included in my sponsorship application, fully explaining her circumstance - something I would not publish to an open forum such as this.
With respect to your other comments regarding being unable to afford a consultant etc - you should refrain from jumping to conclusions, not every emigrant fell off a turnip truck - I have significant related support costs of which you are also unaware. What kind of immigration system requires you hire a consultant before you can get results anyway, or are there special interests here?

we cannot comment on what we do not know - just what you present. You said you were cash tight and her story is no different than any other parent in the world. There is nothing much we can do from here with less than 50% of the information.

Again, you have to convince CIC that your situation is worth them moving Mom to the front of the line. Your skills to this point have failed in that regard - you got a standard letter from CIC. You may or may not have missed something that would assist you. The only way you are going to know is hire a professional to review your application, letter and to assist further if there is any point. Unfortunately, that will cost money. You got results from CIC, just not the results you wanted. There is no guarantee with a consultant either.

so, don´t be annoyed with Roy or anyone else around here, we responded to the information provided.
