Subject: Urgent about Marriage certificate
  Hi every one,
I am looking for an answer. I have a girl friend when I was back home. I didn´t marry her. Right now I am going to apply for a PR. I want to marry her legally while I am here and she is at home. This is a really marriage based on the law. Does CIC accept this kind of marriage or should I have to go home and marry her. I will save and use a lot of money for our families if i marry her while I am in Canada. I am hoping an answer from someone who has experience.

Best Regrads,
Jeany,

You need to marry her legally and obtain a marriage certificate to be able to apply for a PR for her.

Ger married in your home country. (in reply to: Urgent about Marriage certificate)
Get married in your home country, with family and friends looking on, and get a properly registered marriage certificate. Take lots of photos of the wedding to show to Canadian Immigration officers when you are interviewed later on. It is not legal to marry, if the two people are not standing facing each other, at the same place and time.

WRONG WRONG WRONG

ANY MARRIAGE IS LEGAL AS LONG AS IT IS RECOGTNIZED IN THE COUNTRY WHERE IT WAS PERFORMED.

WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT MEEHZ IS A PROXY MARRIAGE WHERE YOU DO IT OVER THE PHONE OR SOMEONE STANDS IN FOR YOU.

IF A PROXY MARRIAGE IS RECOGNIZED IN HER COUNTRY IT IS ACCEPTABLE BY CIC. WHEN YOU COMPLETE YOUR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION LETTER FOR YOUR SPONSOR QUESTIONNAIRE ADDRESS WHY YOU DID A PROXY MARRIAGE.

NEW JOB LACK OF VACATION TIME, CONFLICT IN HER COUNTRY ETC. ETC.

Marriage (in reply to: Urgent about Marriage certificate)
Remember getting married is the easy part. Getting your wife into Canada afterward is the problem. I married my wife in China 18 months ago and Canadian Immigration have still not given her a visa. They are totally anal. If I knew then I would have had her come to Canada as a tourist. Then we would have got married here. Apply for immigration from here. You can get visitor extensions until the paper work comes through. At least this way you will be together.
