Subject: will I be responsible for 10 years ?
  Hello
I work in Canada . I like to sponsor my parents, my parents-in-law and my brother (who is 19 and a student ).Can I sponsor them all if my income is good?
I heard that if I sponsor them I will be responsible for them
for next 10 years , whats that mean ? Is that means they will not get any benefit from govt ? I can provide the expenses for food , cloths and housing as they will live with me . But will they get any health insurence from govt ? I want to sponsor them specially because treatment is free here .

how come (in reply to: will I be responsible for 10 years ?)
I can´t believe they let such a kike like you live in Canada. You don´t even know how to write in English and you are asking for immediate welfare for your parents.
unbelievable.

Hm (in reply to: will I be responsible for 10 years ?)
You are responsible for them for life.
They are your parents :)

Yes, government will provide help in case they needed, but it is not an easy procedure in that case.
Good luck

Mahmut:

You are not only arrogant but a hypocrite as well. People with a mind like yours are the real cause why there is violence in this world.

What´s wrong with Rifat´s intention? Are you directly affected with it? Will it hurt your pocket? The guy´s just expressing his humanitarian concerns towards his loved ones.
And this is normal to persons with a pleasant family upbringing- taking care of each other.

Hey rifat

3-10 yrs you are responsible for any person you sponsor or until they start working on their own. But dont expect the canadian provincial which is responsible to give you the welfare cheques or medical immediate it takes a while. The person who wants to sponsor has to have that kind of income to do so. You have to submit T4 your tax filings along with the visa application.

Anyways hey guys dont use offensive words here if some one has written something bad just ignore him/her thats the best way. CHILL !!!!!!

I completed my graduation, masters and ph.d in a defferent country in a different language , probably thats why they immigrated me here .
And about the responsibility of my parents ? ofcourse its my duty to take care of them . But I wanted to know if that includes health because cost of treatment is very high here it did not mean I don´t want to take care of them. But unfortunately this forum could not help me .

the first 90 days after your parent arrive they do not qualify for medical coverage (each province is different). Perscription drugs are always your responsibility. If they need welfare or other government assistance within the first 10 years they are here, you will be required to repay the government that money. They will not get CPP because they have not not worked in Canada. They will also only qualify for a very small old age pension. There is a legal age cut off for your brother. Check the CIC website. The difficult side of this is no matter what changes in your own situation, your financial responsibilities to the Government of Canada will not. Sorry I can´t pay is not an acceptable excuse.

Consider this. Depending on your country of origin it may be better to financially support your parents in your home country. If it is 3rd world economy, $400 buys many things. In Canada it buys very little. The wait to sponsor parents are becoming longer and longer Why? More new canadians want to bring their families to live with them for all the reasons you have stated (including healthcare). Parent sponsorships are becoming harder in Canada. Why? because our government services and current health care system are so overloaded that they are limiting the number of additional older people into the country. Our population is aging and already the waits for age related surgeries are too long. May I suggest that bringing a parent to Canada for free/cheap healthcare really rubs long standing Canadians the wrong way. I think you touched some nerves with the wording of your question.
