Subject: visitor visa to attend funeral in Canada
Could anyone shed some light on applying for a visitor visa to attend funeral of a close relative (brother)?

My fathers brother died yesterday and his wife wants my dad(brother) and my mom to attend the funeral. What is the procedure and for how long is such a visa generally granted? Is it similar to a ´normal´ visitor visa (6 months?)

Its a visitor visa that your dad will have to apply to the canadian embassy in his country of residence. You can also try to obtain an invitation letter from your father´s brother´s detailing the situation.
