Marry in the US or Canada. Which First?

Subject: Marry in the US or Canada. Which First?
My US (Citizen) sweetie and I wish to marry. I am Canadian citizen. Niether of us have children.

Also, we both have elderly parents and may suddenly need to be with them in case of serious or terminal illness. We want to be able
to travel freely to see them.

It is very difficult to find information on marrying a US citizen in Canada. What is required? Can he stay in Canada with me? For how long? Does he need to apply for Landed Immigrant status? Is there a fiance Visa? And where do I find this information on the Internet first without having to accrue large legal fees??

Which is better: marry in the US first? Or in Canada (BC)?

Help!

Marriage in USA will be better... less time for him to get PR status. [less than 3 months, I believe]

´In-Canada spousal´ application takes an average of 15 months. If you decide to marry in Canada, remember that your sweetie might not be able to work (get SIN number) for about a year, although you guys can stay together until the application is processed.

ps: I don´t know about any laws allowing Canadian or US citizens to work in each others countries, so he might be able to work here after all.

All information is freely available at cic.gc.ca and you don´t need a lawyer for such simple applications ,despite advice to the contrary by many. [personal experience!)
Good Luck
