Subject: US citizen, US employment, live in Canda?
hi.. I am a US citizen with a US job that is performed entirely online....from anywhere/at anytime. I have an opportunity to live in/caretake a friend´s canadian residence for an extended time. I do not want to immigrate. I do not want to take Canadian employment. Can I just "move" to Canada? ...what must I do?
thanks

Please check the following website:

As a US citizen you can work in Canada under provisions of NAFTA. But you can not just move in to Canada and start working. You will have to get a temporary work permit so check the above mentioned website and see what has to be done.

What if you get temporary parking permit for say, 6 months at a time, go to Canada, park in your friend´s place, hook up your computer, and get to work? Don´t tell Canucks youa re working. Tell em you love net! If you tell them you are working in some shape or form, you invite taxes, troubles, and scrutiny. Does your online work require you to tell the Government, whether American or Canadian, that you work? Makes no sense! Been there done something similar but for the world, I was just a net-addict! LOL
