Hi,
I am married to a Canadian and been waiting for my immigration papers to be processed. - Submitted in Mar 07
Right now I am on a visit visa.(been here since May 2006)
During my looooonng wait can I do a course in College...,
If Yes, what permissions would I need?
Can I do my driving???
Also can you suggest a cheap and efficient Health Insurance company. There is nothing wrong with me but I have been advised to continue with health insurance, which I had discontinued.
Thanks in advance
Kevin

(in reply to: College course) Kevin:
As you are in Canada under a Visitor´s Visa, you cannot attend a college or a University. To do that one needs to have a Student Visa.
AS A visitor you cannot get a driver´s license here in Canada. The idea of being a Visitor is that you are going home soon, right? I understand that this is hard to deal with but those are the facts.
Once your Immigration status changes to a Permanent Resident, you will be free to do what you want in Canada.
Be patient.

(in reply to: College course) International students who wish to study in Canada for more than six months must obtain a Study Permit. You do not need to apply for a Study Permit if the total duration of your program will be less than six months.
I cannot find anywhere that states you must be a PR to obtain a Canadian Drivers Licence. The only thing I am finding is a list of accepted ID.
