yes, it is true (in reply to: 10 years , is it true ?)
the first 90 days after your parent arrive they do not qualify for medical coverage (each province is different). Perscription drugs are always your responsibility. If they need welfare or other government assistance within the first 10 years they are here, you will be required to repay the government that money. They will not get CPP because they have not not worked in Canada. They will also only qualify for a very small old age pension. There is a legal age cut off for your sisters adn some restrictions. Check the CIC website. The difficult side of this is no matter what changes in your own situation, your financial responsibilities to the Government of Canada will not. ´Sorry I can?t pay´ is not an acceptable excuse. Sponsorship is a contract obligation with the government of Canada. (Spousal sponsorship is 3 years)

Consider this. Depending on your country of origin it may be better to financially support your parents in your home country. If it is 3rd world economy, $400 buys many things. In Canada it buys very little. The wait to sponsor parents are becoming longer and longer Why? More new canadians want to bring their families to live with them for all the reasons you have stated (including healthcare). Parent sponsorships are becoming harder in Canada. Why? because our government services and current health care system are so overloaded that they are limiting the number of additional older people into the country. Our population is aging and already the waits for age related surgeries are too long.

YES. You can sponsor your parents if you are earning the minimum amount specified on the CIC website. If you are not working your husband (who will have to meet the income crieteria) can give letter of support. By sponsoring your parents you are under the obligation to support your parents for a period of 10 years ie they can not apply for any social security benefits. It is your responsibility to take care of them.

You husband can NOT sponsor his sisters.

As PR of Canada they will get health insurance.

I have to (in reply to: 10 years , is it true ?)
Thanks for the reply . I have only one younger brother who also lives in canada . His income is not that good . So I have no other way , i have to sponsor them . I can´t leave them alone in my home country in their old age . I don´t want any pension for them . They will live with me . But treatmont cost is so high here . thats the main problem . For that my husband is not that interested to sponsor them .

Unless you or your brother earn the minimum amount mentioned on the website (i.e. CA$ 29,944 for 2 people) you can not sponsor your parents.

As mentioned above your parents will be eligible for medical insurance as PR.

I hope you understand that sponsoring parents can take a couple of years.

SPONSOR YOUR PARENT (in reply to: 10 years , is it true ?)
Hi Sakila

right now, CIC is not processing applications for parents, though they say they are.
We are trying to gather people so we can sign a petition and make the CIC start working in this cases again.
Once you submit your aplication, please contact me

Thanks

ALEX
