Subject: Sponsoring Mother and dependant child
Hi everyone, just found this forum and excited to find more information as well as post to questions I know the answer.

My mother lives in Europe and I would like to move her here to Canada. I assume that is not the problem as my income is sufficient for this purpose. However, my sister is dependent child and I wonder how will that affect my application and if I able to sponsor them both to come here.

Did anyone had a situation like this? Anything extra that needs to be done? Any suggestions in the immigration process for two of them?
Greatly thankful and appreciated for your time,
Victoria

As you have mentioned before you can sponsor your mother. As for your sister please let me know:
How old is your sister?
Is she a full-time student?

As you know you cannot sponsor your sister. BUT she can be sponsored as a dependent of your mother if she is single and 22 years old or younger. If she single and over 22 years old she can be included in the application if she is a full-time student and continues to be a full-time student till the immigration application is complete. She will also have to be dependent on your mother financially so she can not work.

Thank you for your prompt reply:
My sister is 32 years old and she is not attending school. She can not read nor write.

Any other options (in reply to: Sponsoring Mother and dependant child)
Really, what are my other options? How about sponsoring mother and then my mother sponsoring my sister?
Would that be possible?

Thanks
V.

Hi Victoria

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is not processing applications to sponsor parents right now. The say they are, though.

We are gathering people together so we can sign a petition and try to make the CIC starts working in these cases again.

Once you submit your aplication , please contact me and help us.

Thanks

Hi Victoria,

Your mother will not be able to sponsor your sister because of the reason I mentioned above ( Your sister is over 22 and is not a full-time student)

There is one option available:

"You may also sponsor one relative of any age if you do not have an aunt, uncle or family member from the list above (check the link mentioned below) who you could sponsor or who is already a Canadian citizen, Indian or permanent resident. "

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/sponsor/index.html

I think it is best if you consult a lawyer regarding your sister. The lawyer will be able to explain the above mentioned option to you clearly.
