| Subject: Getting a US Passport from Canada |

So I went and fell in love with a canadian part 2.. :)
about a year ago I posted on this forums for help concerning applying for Canadian immigration and the information posted here was most helpful and appreciated. I put in my application about 8 months ago and finally got a response!
it says I am eligible pending two things
a criminal check which is no big deal
and a US Passport since that is where i´m immigrating from... gee I wish I knew this earlier
it says to apply through the government although cheaper it will take atleast 10-12 weeks or possibly more, or to go through an quick service it will cost anywhere from around 300 dollars at the cheapest to 500 or more for next days service as much as this is a problem since I can´t work yet the bigger problem seems to be that they ask for such things as seeing your social security card in person? or being there in person for other reasons. I entered the country with a birth certificate and a drivers license. Immigration said they can not accept that and I have to have a passport to continue.. i´m not sure how to proceed
anyone else been through a similar situation? maybe could point my in the right direction on how to get my passport and still be able to remain in canada? I am unable to leave canada for several reasons one being that would make all this work i´ve done void

The United States has a number of Consulates in Canada ( The US Embassy is in Ottawa ) where you can apply in person for a US passport.
Bring all the docs that you have and be prepared to go several times, to get things completed. Not sure where to find a US Consulate? Check the Internet for "US Consulates in Canada " thru a Google search.
