Subject: brother student visa disadvantage
I am a canadian Permanent resident.
My brother wants to study here,
Will me being a permanent resident, will it be a negative point for him when he applies for his student visa?
that if he has family here in canada, he might not return back home?

This can be seen as one factor against him but he can convince the visa officer that he is a genuine student, has no intention to stay in Canada, and has enough money to pay for his studies.

Genuine Student: If he can manage to get financial aid from some good university he is all set. Otherwise, admission should be from a reputed university/college and his course should be somewhat related to his previous work/study. He might have to prove that how doing a particular course may help him in his home country.

Family Ties: property in India, job leave letter if he can obtain one from his current employer, other assets in India, etc.

Funds: Only liquid assets are considered. No property for this factor.
