I am considering bring a women to Canada from the Ukraine. I understand that in Canada I will need to marry her either in Canada or her home country. My questions are:
1. Is it difficult for a person from the Ukraine to acquire a visitors visa to Canada? I assume they will have to show financial resources for the visit?
2. If I marry the person in their country, which seems to be the most likely route, am I legally committed to sponsor this person financially in Canada for a period of 3 years? If, for some reason, we divorce, I assume I would still be financially responsible for this person for this time period?
3. How long does it take to get a sponsorship visa if we marry in the Ukraine?
Thank you

All ready talking about a divorce?? (in reply to: Sponsorship) Not even married yet, and you are talking about getting a divorce???
Sounds to me that this is a " Marriage of Convenience " that isn´t intended to be a long term commitment by you or her. Canada Immigration takes a very dim view of such thungs and may very well barr her from entering Canada, despite being "married " to you.
Second part, YES, if you get married, you are legally responsible for her financial support, in or out of Canada.
