Subject: Parents with US and Canadian visitors visa |

Hello friends,
Situation:Parents have 10 yr multiple entry visa for USA and 1 year multiple entry visa to Canada and wish to spend few months in both countries because of relatives.
I would appreciate if someone could provide me some info regarding these questions below:
1.When they reach Canada, what is the maximum period usually granted to visitors to stay
2.what is the current trend;would the immigration officer at the point of entry give maximum period of stay allowed or short period.how do they decide that?
3.If parents come first to USA and then enter Canada say from Detroit or Buffalo;would that effect how long they can stay in canada?and is it more complicated than going through immigration at the airports?
Pl. advise or guide to online resources if possible.
Thanks,
Sunshine

(in reply to: Parents with US and Canadian visitors visa) 1- Maximum is 6 months.
2- Usually is 6 months but your parents may have to show a departure ticket (even if they departing from the US) and depending on that the officer may allow 6 months or less.
3- It doesn´t matter which port of entry they choose to enter Canada.
However, as a word of caution... Make sure that your parents have enough evidence to convince the CBSA officer that they have intentions to leave Canada at the end of their visit otherwise they can be refuse of entry and their visa will be revoke at the port of entry.
