Subject: work experience as self employed/contractor/freela
  Hi there,

I worked as a computer programmer at a company but I worked as a contractor (I guess a self employed). I have been asked by the consulate to send a pay stubs, T4 and letter of reference from my employer/boss.
Firstly will my work experience count even though I worked as a self employed person. Me and my boss agreed before my contract that it would be as a self employed person but duties and jobs were of a regular employed computer programmer.

Secondly since I did my taxes as self employed I understand I can not get T4s. Is there something similar I can send?

Thank you for you help.

You basically need to convince that your experience is genuine and you were paid for your work. You may submit tax assessment from the income tax office, bank statements showing amount of money being transferred to your account from your employer, cheques, contract of service to be provided etc.
