Parents PR approved: Issues with landing.

Subject: Parents PR approved: Issues with landing.
  Hello,
My parents PR request was approved - after three LONG years. The problem I have is that the office stipulates they have to come to Canada within a couple of months or the PR approval will be cancelled.

Had this been a couple of years back, this would have been a no-brainer, but after waiting so long with no end in sight, my parents started on second careers and it is just not possible to shut everything down in a couple of months and bring them over permanently right now. I am actually a little mad at the shotgun approach. These are two mature, well-rounded, gregarious adults, and not vegetables who can be transplanted in short order. We were expecting a year long process but after three years, it´s hard to still be enthused about a move - and I want them to do a short visit here to get excited about moving over.

Anyhow, some questions.

1. Are there any issues with having them "land" and then head back to India until they can wrap things up and come here for good?
2. What if they come over for a vacation for a couple of weeks, formalize the landing, and head back? Do they need some paperwork to be allowed to get back again, in may be a year´s time?
3. I hear things have changed regarding SIN and OHIP since a few years back and the govt has put certain conditions on eligibility. Can anyone please direct me on what these conditions are? I would definitely want them to apply for a SIN.

just get them to fly over for a holiday and land. they can then return home and as long as they move to Canada within 3 years everything will be fine!

Hello folks, thank you for your feedback. It is very appreciated.

I shall have them do a short visit here before they head back. Can anyone advise me if it´s possible for them to get the following documents or at least apply for these while they are here.
1. SIN number
2. Driver´s licence
3. OHIP card
4. PR card

Regarding the questions.

- I applied for them from Canada in April 2004.
- I got a confirmation letter in June 2004.
- I was approved as a sponsor in August 2005. Parents submitted their application.
- Parents were asked to submit police clearance in May 2006.
- Parents were called for medical in Feb 2007.
- Parents got approval in July 2007.

One reason for another delay is because the parents were asked to submit police clearance and references from countries they had visited... all the way to over 30-40 years back !! - bites tongue -
