| Subject: Proof of Language Proficiency |

Hi,
I am applying for Canadian Immigration. In the section "Proof of Language Proficiency", there are two options:
1)Option 1: Take a language proficiency test from an approved organization
2)Option 2: Establish your proficiency levels through a written explanation and supporting documentation
i) I am from a IT background and worked around 5 years in USA. Do I still need to take a English Proficiency test.
ii) Also, I am the pricipal applicant. So, only myself needs totake the test, correct? Not my spouse.

In most cases they ask for IELTS results even if you have work experience in the States so I´d say go ahead and take it.
Only the the pricipal applicant needs to take the language Proficiency test.

That depends on the processing center. If your application is somewhere in the States, then it will probably take between two to two and a half years. Otherwise I guess it takes much longer (may be about 5 years)!

I am submitting in Buffalo. So, you say it takes about 2- 2.5 years? Man, you are scaring me! Yah, I also heard it takes about 1.5 years in total. Any suggestions to make it faster or will it take its own time.

i´ve read that it takes about half a decade to finally get your dream in going to canada but that´s if you´re from US. How about if i´m from asia...? its really scary hearing that..huh.
