Subject: Sponsoring Spouse and Being Self Employed |

Hello, I am self-employed and am sponsoring my spouse. I have heard that a spouse is exempt from the minimal financial requirement to sponsor but I am responsible of the three year mandatory financial commitment. My question is as a self employed individual running her own business, my NET income recorded on my Notice of Assessment is substantially lower than Gross income due to business expenses. Will that have any impact on me? If I am truly exempt from the min. requirement than I would assume it would have no bearing. I just want to ensure before my forms are submitted.

(in reply to: Sponsoring Spouse and Being Self Employed) There is no income requirement to sponsor a spouse or dependent child1
I recently submitted an option "C" & Notice of Assessment for a client who claimed ZERO income. He was paid cash and showed a letter that he was working as a AC Mechanicshowing. The Tax guy in a Mall he hired claimed without receipts T´4 you can´t claim income to Revenue Canada.
He is now correcting the error.
No Impact what so ever, Relax.

(in reply to: Sponsoring Spouse and Being Self Employed) Thanks. I have my notice of assessment and letters of employment. Do I need an Option C printout? Sounds like it makes no difference. Please confirm.
