I had invited a friend who was in San Francisco for a business seminar, I only sent him a letter of invitation and copies of my permanent resident status. He got the Visa... no problems.
I invited my first cousin, my aunt... they are very well settled in India, have immovable assets in excess of CA $100k and they were declined. I sent my letter of invitation, copies of bank statement, tax retn... basically the works. I never expected this decline and was embarassed with the outcome. Can anyone suggest anything that can help in them securing a visit visa?

Parihar,

Applying for USA/Uk and India/Pk/Bd.. are totally different. Visa officers most important concern is to have some assurance that the visa applicant would return. In many cases the applicants don´t. This rate is much more higher for our Asian countries. Most importantly, the applicants have to satisfy the visa officers that he would come back by showing banck balance, job..previous visas for similar countries like European/US ones are real advantageous.

Sorry to say, once it is denied I don´t see much hope in the future.

Thanks for your rply Departed_Canadian.

Its kind of hard for me to imagine how they can be declined because they showed all of the above you mentioned. I know a lot of people come to Canada and never return, take advantage of the Refuge law (loophole I must say) but its not fair to someone like me. I think that law needs to be reviewed to enable some genuine applicants to be considered for a visit visa.

I agree Parihar. I also feel offended and hurt like you. But can´t blame the Visa officers for that, for some abusers the genuine candidates always suffer.

In US embassy Dhaka, few years ago, after denied for a tourist visa into US, a businessman got so offended that he was died instantly due to heart attack.

In cour country (Bangladesh), only people with extreme high wealth, Govt. programs....students with good scholarships get US/Canadian Visa. Sometimes even they fail.

Parihar,

If you are so desperate then you may try this. Contact your local MP´s office and tell them the incident. They may convince the embassy back home. But still no warranty. They don´t have any direct authority over the Visa officer. I saw this method both worked and not worked.

When I immigrated to Canada 3 years ago my wife was pregnant. She was diagnosed with diabetes in her pregnancy and the baby was getting affected by the insulin she was taking. It was going to turn out to be very complicated delivery. The doctors advised to get family support so I applied for my mother in law to visit and help out. Shock of my life... she was declined. We lived through that, bitter yes but we are over that experience. Now times have changed, we are settled, make real good money and all and its a shame that all this change still keeps you away from family.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, I do appreciate.
