Subject: New to PR process
  Hello friends

I am very new to this process and have sent my application to buffalo office for PR. Normally in how many days do they respond? Its been around 5 days now, the checks haven´t been cleared yet.

The only stuff mismatching in my application is the photo size, I couldn´t get the photos per specification and sent my application with 2*2 passport photograph.

Also, at this time, do they check all supporting documents or they just pile it and are more concerned on the form and checklist?

FYI.. this is a regular skilled worker application

Appreciate a quick response

Thanks

You will have to be ready to wait. The PR process for Skilled Worker takes between 18 to 24 months sometimes more on average.

You made a mistake by sending 2x2 photos, it was clearly indicated to send the "Canadian" standard photo which is different. They may send back your application asking for the right photo size.

The way I did it: I went to Walgreens and told them I need the photos for that specific size (they don´t do it so just tell them to zoom out a little before printing in a way that you can cut the photos for the Canadian PR size. Believe I went with a ruler in Walgreens, it worked!) Then my applicationw was accepted.

It may take a few weeks before you receive your AOR (Acknowledgment of receipt). The trick here is to send your documents with a service you can track so at least you know when they receive it.

Just be patient, 5 days is too too early. Just wait more! It is normal.

My understanding is that they check if you paid the fees, sign and dates all forms, send PCCs and if the photos are the right sizes!! Then give you a file number and send you AOR.

Hope it helps

Thanks (in reply to: New to PR process)
Thanks for the information, I guess I will just wait for the application to come back and in the mean time can work on the photos, somehow I never felt like cutting the photos as its so costly and if you do a mistake that would cost you more:(
Anyways thanks again for the prompt reply

In walgreens you get 6 photos for $7.99 it is not so bad. Cutting is the only way that I found, I wonder what the other applicants did.

Ok.. What I did - I purchased PassportPhoto software for 10 bucks... I used my digital camera to click photo.. I download in my computer and then used this software ...and then clicked UK size photo (same as Canada)... it printed 8 photos as JPG in 4 X 6 size... and then I uploaded jpg to walgreen.com and printed in 19 Cents... so first 8 photos costed me 10.19 cents... and after that I have printed during Visa processing for family of 3 ... everytime it just cost me 19 cents.... Hope this will work for you !!

PCCs (in reply to: New to PR process)
Sorry I am bugging this forum members so much, but really want to apply for Canadian PR now. Heard somewhere that PCC is really not needed at the time of application, its just when they start your process then you need to send PCC/ medicals etc.

Please clarify

Well when I applied, the rules said clearly that you must include PCCs at the time of submission, I guess this is not true for simplified process but the normal way it is. At least that what is said on the checklist from Buffalo office.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Samusa you got a great idea. I did not know that such software exists. Good to know, where did you buy it ?
