Subject: Police clearance (fingerprint)
  Hello all,

I have received the initial assessment letter.
They asked me to do the medical and pay the RPRF, but they did not ask me to do the fingerprint (police clearance). I am assuming that they will ask me later, which will make my application process longer. I was wondering if I send the police clearance(fingerprint) now, eventhough they did not ask me to, would that be wrong?

Please advice

If they didn´t ask you then you don´t need to do it. Simple as that. Don´t make things more complicated than they already are.

luck...

If you have gone abroad for more that 6 months, better to get it (police clearance) now since that is the standard procedure. They may not have included that in their letter but when they scrutinize again your application and find out that you stayed in other countries for more than 6 months, they will surely ask for the police clearance. I suggest to get it now because it really takes time to obtain PCCs... there´s little or not at all to lose ($$)and no harm if you do it in advance.

Same situation. I was only asked for FBI and not RCMP. I live in Canada. I got the RCMP fingerprints done just in case. Their turn around time is 5 months, and I didn´t want to delay my application if it would end up being required.

PCC from FBI (in reply to: Police clearance (fingerprint))
Hi Folks,
I lived in US for 10 months. As per Australian DIAC, applicants lived for 12 months or more in the last 10 years have to produce PCC from the country of stay.

I have written to them that I have lived only for 10 months, so am I still to provide PCC from FBI since I´m currently in India and it is highly difficult to write to FBI to know the procedure. I guess the guy who received my mail had not looked at the details and simply referred me to their Canberra web site and mentioned we await PCC from FBI.

Do I have the privilege to go back and reappeal, will they oblige. Or just continue to contact the FBI. I have limited time for this.

Thanks,
TechBangalore
