Subject: Career in Home Care for Seniors : Sharon
  Dear All,

I am a 35-year old female landed immigrant in Nova Scotia and wish to take up a course in a home Care for Seniors. Unfortunately, I do not have a nursing background. I would be very grateful if someone can direct me to sites with distance learning courses or schools in NS where I can take up a course in Assisted Living courses OR Nursing home courses etc.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Call the NS department of education (in reply to: Career in Home Care for Seniors : Sharon)
Sivic:

Contact the local office of the Nova Scotia Department of Education, about " Adult Training courses" in your area. These are offered to upgrade your work kills and improve your ability to earn a good living.

Depending on your personal income or a lack of it, you may be able to get the course for free, or at a discounted cost. Health care aides are in demand now, so there is a job out there for you, after you have completed the course. Don´t worry about not having any nursing training, they will accept you regardless.

Good Luck.
