Subject: PR visa/status
I am a British Citizen currently living and working in the UK. I intend to migrate to Canada as a skilled worker. Assuming I get the PR visa, how soon do I have to physically move to Canada and if for some reason I decide to return to the UK, for how long would the PR visa be valid? Many thanks.

Hi,

Once you get the visa/PR, then the validity is till the anniversary of your medical OR the expiration of passport - whichever is earlier. Meaning, if your medical is valid till January 1, 2005 and if you get visa on December 1, 2004 then you have one month to enter. But, if your PP is expiring on December 15, 2004; you have to enter before December 15, 2004 eventhough your medical expires on January 1, 2005.

To maintain your PR you have to live in Canada for 2 years out of every 5 years.

To get the citizenship, you have to live in Canada for 3 years out of last 4 years.
