Subject: Realistic waiting period? Sp. Sponsorship, IN CAN
Ok, so my question is pretty straight forward. I know the national averages for IN Canada Spousal Sponsorship according to CICs webpage [5mths] but realistically how long do you think it will take?

I sent in my application packet yesterday morning.
Here is my story:

I am a American Citizen [born and raised]
My wife is a Canadian Citizen [born and raised]
There are NO CHILDREN involved
We included all neccessary paperwork in a VERY concise, easy to follow, packet.
We also included all fees, including ROLF. $1525

Since we had everything already prepared well in advance and ALL fees have been paid is there any chance our application will move along quicker than some more complex, harder to follow cases?

I would love if it was processed in like 3mths as opposed to 5+ months... what are the chances?

Any feedback welcome.

Happy Holidays!

Sure (in reply to: Realistic waiting period? Sp. Sponsorship, IN CAN)
It will move faster only because everything is sorted.
When I was working as immigration officer we had to go in order received and I beleive it is still the case.

However, when you receive a neat application then this application will finish much faster.

Well done FP.
Happy Holidays

Hello. I sent my package to CIC Nov 26th; CIC rcvd it Nov 29th. I checked my progress via internet and a letter was sent out December 10th (re: Decision Made for Sponsorship Eligibility). ALOT faster than I expected. Not sure if this is good or bad though-still waiting for the letter-I´m crossing my fingers.
Last year, my friends sent in their PR application (Common-Law) also at around this time and her partner received his acceptance by May 2004. Another friend received their PR in 5 months (Marriage) this year.

Apparently, CIC put forward an initiative to reunite couples for the 2004 fiscal year. Therefore, the timeline is much much shorter than it is for other family class members (i.e.-parents, grandparents, etc. which is almost two years). I was told this by the first couple I talked about. Very lucky for us because the process is much more streamlined than before. Another friend applied in 2000 and it took her two years before she received her PR (Common-law). So 5-6 months doesn´t sound too bad to me anymore.

Thank you guys so much for replying...

Trish my only question is did you apply from Inside or Outside of Canada? Sounds to me as if you applied from outside, but I could be wrong.

Roman, do you have any idea about a general time frame or is the CIC average pretty close to correct?

I´m going to try my best to not be impatient, but I know we all are... Oh well...

Cheers

Sorry about that...I´ll be more clear.

I am a Canadian Citizen and I´ve applied to sponsor my spouse from New Zealand. This is a Sponsorship and Immigration to Canada from Abroad...I´m here in Canada, he´s currently in New Zealand.

This was the same situation for my other friends I was telling you about.

Now that I think about your question...I guess this may not be relevant for you, am I right? Are you and your Canadian Spouse currently living in the US? I really don´t know if this makes a difference in timeline. Sorry that couldn´t be more helpful! Good luck.
