Subject: Landed Canadian Immigrant status still valid?
I have landed Cdn Imm papers from 1959 till 1976 then went to UK (British by birth) for higher education and remained in UK. I have maintained my Canadian Drivers Licence and been back every 2 or 3 years to see family, now I want to move back to Canada to look after elderly mother. Have I lost my PR status? If I have, is it best to reapply for PR status OR reapply as a skilled worker?

Loss of Status (in reply to: Landed Canadian Immigrant status still valid?)
Hello.

It is very likely that CIC will deem you as having lost your status. However, if you are able to prove that you intended to maintain Canada as your place of residency, you may be able to regain what appears as lost. I recommend that you contact a Canadian immigration lawyer to determine whether you have a case.

Sincerely,

I have a landed Canadian immigrant visa but only stayed in Canada for the period from Sep 16 to Jan 6, 2009. Is my landed immigrant status lost?

in any 5 year period you must live in Canada 730 days. When did you get your PR? Do the math.

Regain Canadian Immigrant Status (in reply to: Landed Canadian Immigrant status still valid?)
I landed as an immigrant in Canada on March 31, 2002 then due to some urgent family affairs I came back to Pakistan on May 11, 2002. Then after some time my mother got seriously ill and I had to stay here to take care of my mother for which I had already informed to Islamabad Canadian office in this regard. Since then I am in Pakistan to take care of her. How can i go back to Canada or regain my Canadian Immigrant ststus

Regain landed immigrant status (in reply to: Landed Canadian Immigrant status still valid?)
I did my Landed Immigrant to Canada on 5/1/91 (my brother sponsered me). Went one time there but returned to Kuwait on a job as i had to support my family. The last time i entered in Canada was in June 2003 (was there for 3 months). I am retired now and had to go to India to look after my children. Children are on their own now and am left alone. I wish to regain my status so I can stay with my brother who is not well. I have my Social Security Card. Please tell me what to do?? I really want to be in Canada..Thank you.
