Subject: Update
Sharon, Roy, Richard & all who care:

I have not visited this forum for quite some time, but today I feel like sharing this with the folks who still remember me:
I have received my passport request today. My FSW case (Buffalo) has been approved in just 13 months.

Many thanks to all who have helped me, and wishes for a speedy processing to all who are still in the queue! Patience is the key, don´t lose it!

Uniden

Congratulations Uniden , after a huge waiting you have made it. Now just last minute formalities are left which won´t take much time to finish. Once again best wishes and congratulations .

Congratulations Uniden!

I joined this forum a little before you left but today I am glad you responded.

Could you share with us your timeline, out of curiosity. I got my IA in 3 months so I wondered how fast/slow it may go afterwards.

Regards

I had written huge waiting in my earlier mail , please don´t go by the literal meaning of that. Uniden you are one of the fastest to achieve the end. To me conscious waiting for even few weeks is a big time.

I guess that sending a complete application without any discrepancies has helped. As you can see, other than an updated bank reference letter, no additional documents were requested @ IA time. There was a time when I was scared a little bit, because during my medical examination I had an elevated blood pressure reading of 140/90, but it did not pose a problem at all. It was elevated only that day, now I am back to 115/70 or so.. We are totally hyper now, we´ll land on Dec 1st after stamping our PR visa in person @ CIC-Buffalo about 2 weeks from now.

I would also like to encourage all current or prospective applicants who are currently our of status in the US, by telling them that it is possible to succeed in completing the Canadian PR process. Do not be afraid to apply, your US status has little bearing on your Canadian application, as long as you were "lawfully admitted" to the US for at least one year AND reside in the US at the time th application is filed. Subsequent status loss does not matter! I have applied while out of status and I am living proof that it is possible. Good luck!!!! :)

Again, let me thank you all for your support during the initial stage of my PR application. This was my 1st stop when I needed help, and I always got it. Thank you Roy, Sharon, Richard, CBV333 (yes, I do remember you!), Rajiv, and all other people in the forum!!!

I am sure I will come back and post a landing story soon!

:)

Hi UNIDEN,

Yes do come back and tell us your landing story by Christmas.

Your timeline is really encouraging. I did my medicals last week so if I pluck my timeline to yours I may expect passport request next month! Praveen may also be lucky.

I think this is really encouraging. I start to think that more applicants will get their PR faster! Let´s see and hear from others!

Good luck to all (and myself! :) ... will keep you updated)

Best wishes to you CBV333! I am hopeful you will receive your PPR before the usual 6-8 weeks after medicals. Just keep an eye on e-CAS. It updates ONLY MONDAYS between 9-10AM EST, so there is no need to check 278 times/week like I did! Looking at all cases I know, including mine, it appears that when e-CAS changes to "Medical results have been received" (yes, you have to click on "In Process" to see this IN ADDITION to the line "We started processing your file on ......."), your PPR has already been initiated/dispatched!

Roy: I hope you didn´t change your mind.. We should meet some day. I will be in Ontario early December.

Sharon: Don´t you live in Vancouver? After the initial few weeks in Ontario, where our Canadian relatives live, we will slowly move towards our final destination: Victoria, BC
Maybe our paths will cross some day :)

I hope so!

Victoria is a beautiful government community. Fabulous, mild weather and a very british atmosphere. Housing is cheaper than Vancouver and it is a slower paced lifestyle.

Make sure you investigate well your job opportunities (I am sure you have)- most are tied to government services.

It is an 18 minute float plane ride ($79 return) to Vancouver or a 2 hour ferry ride.

Uniden,

Good day! Just wondering if Canada is much better than U.S.? I have also finished my medical last April and waiting for PP request from the CIC.

Sharon:
Great! :) I know where to find you! :)
I did my homework regarding jobs, housing, etc. It looks like I will be able to keep my US job (remotely) for a while, so I have plenty of time to find something on the island, while still having a steady income from the US.
With a bit of luck, my wife will pursue her law degree at UVIC.

Josie:
Is Canada better than the US? This is an ancient question that cannot be answered with a simple "Yes" or "No". It is up to each individual to decide. We are all different and have different perspectives.. To ME, Canada is definitely better! I am not a landed Canadian PR yet, I still live in Florida, US at the moment.., but I am confident that I made the right decision to immigrate to Canada. Being a "new" country, Canada still has a lot of potential.. and I like to "explore" :)
On a different note.. I think it is a long time since you took your medicals without hearing from CIC. How is your status on e-CAS? Were you asked to submit additional documents during IA? Anyway, I believe that your PPR is really close!
Good Luck!
