  Hey Departed_Canadian,

Your responses are honest and very useful. Please advise how/why did you depart canada. Do you have canadian/indian citizenship? do you still have dual citizenship and how did you manage to move from canada to usa for good?

I am getting my canada PR soon, presently in usa working. I don?t know what I?m going to do.

Anonymous,

I´m having dual citizenship of Bangladesh & Canada.

Canadian law is very open for the citizens if you would like to leave the country. Just leave the country. Though as a PR you can´t do that so easily, you have certain residency obligations to maintain.

Canadian citizens enjoy the benefit of NAFTA treaty between USA, Canada, Mexico. Under NAFTA there is a special TN work permit can be issued to the qualified professionals instantly at any major US POE. It is very easy to obtain, just need a US job offer letter, your related transcripts/license, experience letter. It doesn´t have any quota like H-1 or particular time to apply. It is issued instantly at the POE and then you are all set. Just pack your stuffs and be on the way. Downside of this TN is you have to renew this every year, either from border or from within US.

Anonymous,

Just noticed another question from you. Why did I leave Canada? That was answered before here:

See my comparions of USA/Canada. In short, job was the main reason, with many others. To be honest, even having better job (never possible though) I wouldn´t come to Canada for many other reasons. I found it is mmuch more easier to integrate with the main stream in USA. I don´t want to be considered as minoriry immigrant for ever and stay in a so called multicultural soceity. Rather happy with vissible minority in the mainstream.

Now that you´re on TN work permit, do you plans/option to apply for Green Card. Suppose your employer in usa gets impressed with you and offers you a green card/H1, would you ´be able to accept´/´prefer´ that over the TN work permit.

What if POE please.

My case is -- that I´m getting canada PR soon like in 2 or so, and I´m presently on L1 visa in usa. My employer is offereing me H1 in usa. Should I take the H1 (and hopefully I´ll be able to get green card) or go to canada and find a job there?

POE means Port of Entry, like Airport to US, border US immigration post...whereever you have to cross INS to enter into the US.

I´m currently on TN and switching to H-1 from October, my employer is OK to go for the GC.

You can do the labor in TN status, but eventually have to switch to H-1 prior filing I-140 as TN is temporary, not inteded for immigration. Most lawyers prefer to do the entire GC process in H-1.

Your decision you are the best to decide, if your employer is willing to sponsor then it´s your option to just wait for some more years or take a chance in extreme hard Canadian market with PR status.
