Subject: "You are being given the oppertunity to undergo an
  Hello guys,
I have applied - Buffalo, July, 2007 and got AOR - Aug 09, 2007. Then, on AUG 14, I recived a letter saying that the materials I providedas a proof of my English ability does not support the level of proficiency indicated on my application (16 points). So, as it says, "You are being given the oppertunity to undergo and submit the results of IELTS".
I have some questions here:
1- I don´t need the 16 point to reach to the pass mark I only need 2. So, Can I contact them and change my claim to less points (like 8 points)?
2- They mention that if I don´t provide the results within 120 days, they will do the assessment based on the documents they have. Does it mean a delay in my place in the priority queue?
3- When they send me this information, does it mean that they start the proccessing of my application? I think this will be a very fast !!!!
4- What is the best way to contact them in Buffalo? is there a Tel?
Thank you in advance
Ahmed

1) It wouldn´t help claiming 8 points or 4 points or 2 points as they go with the documents they have. I have been in Canada on WP since 3 yrs and even I was asked IELTS. People who have studied in North America since childhood were also asked IELTS.

It would be better for you if you give IELTS and send the results. If not, they go with the documents they have and might result in delays of application processing or probably an interview call to assess your language skills.

2) Definite possibility as chances of calling for an interview goes up and ofcourse delays in processing can happen.

3)not worth to make an assumption...as normally general scan happens before they send the AOR..and applicants are advised to take IELTS or CELPIP for better point gain.

4)there is an email id in the CIC website...but not specific answers are provided..Telephone worth a try but less chances of consideration.

These are all my experiences and recommendations...Others please add if you agree or disagree

1) you can contact them if you like, but they will base your language skills on documents provided. Something to keep in mind, 67 points does not guarantee acceptance. Adaptability and 67 points makes a better case for approval. Lousy language skills is not in your favour.
2) CIC explicitly states that interviews are NOT used to assess language.

how could you claim 16 points and settle for 8? is CIC goind to say ´what else did this person exagerate on his application´.

Try ordering your caips report, it might have a note about how many language points you have been awarded at this stage.

Ordering a CAIPS this early might not work as even I did get the CAIPS after I was asked to go thru IELTS. But didnt find any points that have been allocated for any category.

Consulate normally sends out IELTS letters based on the application submitted and not necessary that point calculation is done and present in your file by the time letter is sent.

anyway...just a suggestion...better go for IELTS or wait for the points to be allocated without English proficiency.
