Subject: Student Visa refused : help needed
  Hi there
I had applied for a student visa in India which was refused. The reason stated is "you have not demonstrated that you are well established in your country of residence".

Do you think that i can reapply and what documents should i attach to prove it.

I have been admitted to a University in a Masters program without a scholarship. I had shown enough money to cover my studies but didnt take any loan.

Any help would be appreciated

I guess that means they are concerned that you will use your student visa to enter Canada and not go home afterwards.

So... what can you show CIC that would convince them that you are fully intending to go home at the end of your visa term?

Or, are they right that you are using a student visa to gain quick entry into Canada - sometimes they can smell it!

I guess once you are refused chances of getting a visa the second time around are slim. If you intend to come to Canada, long term, you may want to apply in the skilled worker category.

I agree with the last posting by Anonymous. It is hard to convince after 1st rejection.

However, basically they want to see your strong ties with India; can be properties in your name (hoouse, car, business) Family ties (only one going to Canada? that would help a little), your plan on using the Canadian degree in India......Student loan won´t help, may adversely affect as that means you don´t have sufficient funding of your own.

Last posting is very true.

I have seen close friends in the same situation, you may still get the visa but you really have to show strong ties to India.

Being married and having kids there helps but I guess being a student it is not your case yet. Try to think of anything you have, you possess like Departed_Canadian says anything that will show that "you will surely return to India" ... this is critical.

Perhaps you may get a letter from your Canadian University that your degree is only for two years and that you will return to your home country afterwards ... I guess they don´t normally issue that but you can ask them, try anything.

Or if a Masters in Canada will help you to get a better job in India you may get a letter from a potential employer that say they will employ you after you finish your degree abroad. I had a friend who did that and it worked!

I know it is easier said than done but you can try.

Last idea from CBV333 is very good; "letter from a potential employer that say they will employ you after you finish your degree abroad". That can be from your present one if you are working.

Also, in my experience, funding increases the Visa probability dramatically. If you can manage some funding from another University (may be below ranking) anyhow then it may help you a great. After coming you can change the school as per the law.

Vishal,

To be honest, there is no warranty that the tools we suggest will work. In my experience, non-immigrnat Visas most of the time depends on the perception of the particular Visa officer.

Do your work, at least try.
