Hi,
My parents are on visitor visa in Toronto, ON. and we applied for extension visa in June bcoz they have permission only till July 18. So now application for extension visa is till in progess and they is no acknowledge from canadian immigration about the application.
So my question is can my parents travel to states in this situation?
if yes, how can we prove we applied for and extension visa in the border on the way back.

I am confused.
Do your parents still have their passport at this moment ? If yes then I don´t think you can re-enter Canada while you are getting extenstion, I mean if they have an expired visa while travelling back then I don´t think they can re-enter. There is no guarantee that extension will be granted.
Other people in this forum may correct me if I am wrong.
Also don´t your parents need a visa to travel to USA ?
Your situation sounds a bit tricky according to what you wrote. Maybe I misunderstood

Your parents will of course require a US Visitor Visa and yes they can enter the states if USINS admits them. Here is something that most do not know so listen up.
Any SINGLE ENTRY into Canada is considered as the following. Entry into Canada and departure after your stay, or....
entry into Canada then a trip into the States and upon your return to Canada it is still considered the same entry.
If your parents were not approved or refused for their CVV extension then they have implied status. If by their return CIC has not refused they will be granted entry again.
Their receipt of payment is their evidence they applied for an extension and the CBSA officer will check FOSS before granting them entry. Now if they were denied the day before they will still be allowed back in by car because the Americans will not allow anyone back in if they have no second entry US Visitor Visa so the Canadians will be forced to admit them!

BTW my parents have multiple entry visa to both Canada & USA? But now we applied for extension visa for my parents. My parents still have their passports with them.
