(in reply to: work permit??) I would think so. I had my work permit 1st and then applied for PR. While I´ve been waiting, I´ve renewed it a few times.

Sure (in reply to: work permit??) Definitely, Canada would rather that you earn your own buck, support yourself, and yet pay taxes instead of Canada paying your living expenses.
Makes sense
Good luck,
Jim

If you apply... (in reply to: work permit??) If you apply within Canada when the application reaches the approval in principle you can apply for a WP. If you apply from outside it is not possible to do this. I know there are some exceptions under NAFTA if you´re from US or Mexico but those are very specific job positions.THat is what I know so far.

(in reply to: work permit??) An IT guy can apply for WP from USA if his/her immigration is under process. He/she should answer to the questions in the WP application form truthfully. IT will be the discretion of the officer of immigration to provide or not.
Anyway i am going to try that in few weeks from now and post whatever happens.
My immigration process is complete and waiting for PP request.
Good luck and Happy Holidays
