Guys, As I do not have account in Canada, I transferred my money to a friend´s Account in the USA. Now for my landing purposes, can I have him write a cashier´s check in my name or should I have him transfer the money back into my account and take my own traveler´s check?
TIA

(in reply to: Certified check/ Cashier's check) Why are you making it so complicated ? It won´t look good if "your" money is under someone else name ....I don´t think it is a good idea.
Get your traveler´s check! Or open an account with HSBC online so you can do an electronic transfer YOURSELF once you have a bank account in Canada.
At landing just show your bank statement. We are in the process of doing that, we are gathering all our money on that online account and will show at landing. It is EASY !
Then you can transfer it once in Canada.
The other option though is limited and risky is to take cash with you but I think you cannot exceed $10,000.

(in reply to: Certified check/ Cashier's check) quite a few Canadian banks have branches in large cities. Royal bank or HSBC. As CBV suggests, I would get your cash into one of those banks and take your bank statement with you. Transfer it when you arrive.
