Subject: Landing soon in Toronto
  Dear all,

Could you please advise important points to be considered when going for first time? e.g.

- whether to open bank account/apply for SIN or not, if intention is to return after few days (tax implications?)
- whether to include maximum items in list of items to follow?
- whether to make arrangements for accommodation before landing? which guest house is considered best?

Any other points you can think of.

Many thanks.

Regards

You need to compile a comprehensive list for submission during the time of landing.

If possible make arrangements for accommodation before landing. However, if you hav enough funds, you can spend the first few days in a hotel.

Regarding opening a bank account etc. it depends on your plans - if you intend to just spend a few days and kick out, then you need not necessarily open an account. However if you plan to stay in Canada for sometime, then I would advise you to go ahead and complete this requirements. The earlier you start the better it is for you.

One point to consider is that once you land and get out of Canada without your Permanent Resident Card, you might not be able to return to Canada unless you have arrangements in place to have it mailed to you outside Canada.
