Subject: HRDSC Approval Questions

I am an Indian citizen and graduated from the University of Toronto with a 4 year degree in computer science in June 2006. I had to rush back to India after that due to some unavoidable circumstances. I now wish to return and take up employment in the tech field in Toronto.

My only experience is a 3 month internship at a large Canadian Software company.

My question is with regard to HRDSC approval -

1)will I need to have HRDSC approval if I apply for a Programmer or Business Analyst position? which tech jobs dont need HRDSC - so i can simply get a work permit after i get a job offer.

2)Suppose I get offered a tech job that does need this HRDSC approval - is it really a big deal for a company to get it - or is it just a formality? will it really hamper my chances of getting a tech job?

thanks for your help

The exempt IT positions that do not require HRSDC approval are on my web site www.canvisaplacement.ca

All you will need IF you comply with those requirements is an offer of employment.

thanks for the reply!
but ... canvisaplacement.ca returns a 404 not found error.

My questions are:
Are there any companies that would be more amenable to hiring an international candidate like me? if so could someone name a few?
what are my chances of getting a job, despite the disadvantage of having to go through HRDSC clearance and a work permit?

some background:
I am an Indian citizen and graduated from the University of Toronto with
a 4 year degree in computer science. I got a job offer in the US with a large software company, and returned to India to take a break before joining. Unfortunately my US work visa didnt go through, because the company was late in filing. I now wish to return and take up employment in the tech field in Toronto, but its been more than 3months and I have lost the special status that is given to students (ie work permit without HRDSC approval).

I am open to all tech jobs - programming, consulting etc.
My only experience is a 3 month internship at a large Canadian Software company.

Any advice would be welcome..
